1st Mortimer Scout Group is a friendly and active youth organisation based in Mortimer, providing adventure, skills, and personal development opportunities for young people aged 5 to 18 and beyond.

Our aim is to create a welcoming and supportive environment where young people can challenge themselves, try new experiences, and develop the confidence and skills they need for life. Through a wide range of activities, we help young people grow in independence, learn to work as part of a team, and build lasting friendships.

At 1st Mortimer, learning happens through doing. Our programme is built around fun, practical activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, and teamwork. Young people are given the chance to take part in outdoor adventures, learn practical life skills, and discover what they are capable of achieving.

Activities across the group can include:

• Camping and outdoor adventures
• Hiking and navigation
• Bushcraft and outdoor skills
• Campfire cooking
• Games and team challenges
• Creative projects and crafts
• Community activities and volunteering
• Personal challenges and awards

Outdoor activities play a big role in what we do. Spending time outside helps young people build resilience, confidence, and independence while creating memorable experiences with friends.

We are proud to be part of the Mortimer community and regularly take part in local events and activities. Encouraging young people to support their community helps them develop a sense of responsibility and pride in the place where they live.

Run by Volunteers

1st Mortimer Scout Group is run by a dedicated team of volunteers who give their time to support young people in the local community.

Our volunteers organise weekly meetings, activities, camps, and events to ensure every young person has a safe, enjoyable, and rewarding experience.

We are always happy to welcome new volunteers, whether that is helping at weekly meetings, supporting events, joining our Supporters Committee, or helping with the running of the group behind the scenes.
